SAUSALITO REAL ESTATE

The hilly landscape all throughout the Sausalito community gives this part of Marin County a unique atmosphere that almost feels like a picturesque village somewhere along the Mediterranean Sea. To help maintain the stunning waterfront views most home owners here enjoy, the city has enforced strict roofline heights over the years, which has certainly helped preserve both the great views just mentioned, as well as high home values in the area. The Sausalito real estate market is actually quite diverse, offering potential buyers plenty of single-family, condo, and townhouse options. Sausalito is also known for having quite a few houseboats as well thanks to its location on the water, which can sometimes be a nice way to break into the local real estate market without breaking the bank.

If you’re a home buyer who happens to have kids, Sausalito is part of the Sausalito Marin City School District for primary schools, and the Tamalpais Union High School District for secondary schools. The two public schools in the area include Bayside/Martin Luther King Academy (K-8) in nearby Marin City and the Willow Creek Academy right here in Sausalito. High school age students living in the area all attend Tamalpais High School, which is located up in Mill Valley.

LIVING IN SAUSALITO

Today, the population of beautiful Sausalito, CA is right around 7,000 people, and because much of it is pushed right up against the 80,000-acre Golden Gate Natural Area, there isn’t a whole lot of room for on-going growth here. In addition, because it’s situated just north of the Golden Gate Bridge and right along Highway 101, traveling to and from San Francisco is about as easy here as it is from anywhere else in Marin County. In addition, frequent ferry service also provides a direct route to the city, which can sometimes be an easier option if you’re looking to head to San Francisco’s far east or south sides.
