Kentfield Homes & Real Estate

See today's Kentfield homes for sale & Kentfield real estate listings below. Conveniently located just 3 miles from Highway 101, and only about 14 miles north of San Francisco, Kentfield is a small town in central Marin County that seems to be a little less well-known than other nearby communities, even despite it’s somewhat sizable population of over 6,000 people. But given the cities of San Rafael, Larkspur, Greenbrae, and the small little town of Ross, CA all border parts of Kentfield, there’s still plenty to see and do all throughout this scenic part of Marin County, helping make it an attractive option to anybody looking for a new place to live in northern California. KENTFIELD, CA REAL ESTATE AT A GLANCE

Homes for sale in Kentfield are pretty similar to what you’ll find in most other parts of Marin County. Single-family homes tend to dominate the real estate landscape, and most are set back off the street a bit while also boasting low roof lines in order to blend into the area’s beautiful natural landscape and help preserve the stunning views of all the rolling hills and mountains in the backdrop that help shape this unbelievably gorgeous part of northern California. Look for smaller ranch-style or mid-century modern homes to start around $1,250,000 in Kentfield, with newer or larger homes on the market listed anywhere from $2 to $6 million.

A LOOK BACK AT THE HISTORY OF KENTFIELD, CA

Kentfield was originally named after Albert Kent, an early meat packer from Chicago who settled in the area back in the late 1800s. Today, the Kent family is still well-known throughout much of the community largely because of their generous donation of land for the development of a local recreation center, which is now home to the College of Marin. For younger students living in Kentfield, though, the Kentfield School District serves much of the area, which consists of the Anthony G. Bacich Elementary School and the Adeline E. Kent Middle School. Furthermore, most high school students living in Kentfield attend either Marin Catholic High School or Redwood High School in nearby Larkspur.

LIVING IN KENTFIELD

Although Kentfield has a population of over 6,000 people, much of the area is still mostly residential. The few restaurants, cafes, and other commercial developments you’ll find in town mostly sit along College Avenue near the College of Marin, with of course a few of other options also scattered throughout the rest of the Kentfield community. For most local home owners, though, the quiet residential atmosphere is precisely what brought them to the area in the first place, so the relaxed setting that’s almost sleepy in some ways is exactly what many residents like about living here most.
