FOREST KNOLLS REAL ESTATE

As a small mountain community nestled deep within West Marin, the real estate market in Forest Knolls is somewhat limited when it comes to available inventory. Mostly comprised of single-family dwellings, Forest Knolls homes for sale are ideal for home buyers looking for a tranquil place to live that provides ample interior living space, lots of private outdoor space, and more than enough privacy from your neighbors. Aside from the few homes that are close to the town center, most Forest Knolls properties include lots of open land and some pretty spectacular views of the surrounding scenery that helps make this a special place to call home. Because of its somewhat secluded feel, homes in Forest Knolls can often be slightly cheaper than in other more populated communities in Marin County, but still expect listing prices to start somewhere around $600,000 or $700,000.

LIVING IN FOREST KNOLLS

Aside from the town’s post office, which originally opened back in 1916, and a well-known bar called the Papermill Creek Saloon, most of the Forest Knolls area is either residential or wide open green space that includes parts of the French Ranch Open Space Preserve, the Gary Giacomini Open Space Preserve, and even some of Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Home buyers who love hiking, mountain biking, or just spending time outside will love the beautiful natural landscape surrounding the Forest Knolls area, especially within the Samuel P. Taylor State Park, which offers all kinds of great hiking and biking trails, and even a couple campgrounds in case you feel like spending a night out under the stars. The San Geronimo National Golf Course is also just a short drive away from most homes for sale in Forest Knolls, which is really the only golf course found in this part of Marin County. The Forest Knolls community is also part of the Lagunitas School District, which is comprised of three public schools, a Kindergarten through 6th Grade Open Classroom, a K-5 Montessori, and a local Middle School.
